Project Description

Results:
Cox proportional hazard model: zMS* and each of its component – associated with incident type 2 diabetes (*Standardized multivariate score). Stepwise proportional hazards models: fasting glucose, 2-h glucose, HDL cholesterol, and BMI – independent diabetes predictors; and were weaker predictors than zMS. Parsimonious summary score: combined variables had predictive power similar to that of zMS. Intrauterine diabetes exposure or parental history of young-onset diabetes increased a child’s absolute risk of developing diabetes.
Conclusion:
Strategies targeting obesity, dysregulated glucose homeostasis, and low HD cholesterol during childhood and adolescence would bring the most success in preventing diabetes.
Explanation:
After the initial diagnosis of Diabetes Type 2 or its risk factors, life style modification can reverse the disease.
